Many stories are possible – and everyone would tell them differently. The viewer is given hardly any guidelines, save for the figurative elements lying on the canvas – or the dissecting table. It is up to the viewer to decide what bridges to build between them, or which ones to tear down. Bettina Haukes surreal images thus remain timeless, always offering a fresh start.
